Academic Services, Policies for Students With Disabilities, Equipment and Adaptive Technology:

Extensive improvements were made to adaptive technology and equipment for students.

AccessAbility Computer Lab Expansion:
In March 2009, Fanshawe College constructed a renovated and expanded space in Room F2015 for the AccessAbility Computer Lab. Features include the following:

• 1536 square feet of dedicated space that is brighter with a number of windows providing natural light and in close proximity to an elevator.
• 26 computer stations, including AT software, scanners, CCTV's, and printer.
• More laptop work station space and improved wireless connectivity.
• Floor to ceiling walls in 4 private study 'Dragon' rooms for enhanced privacy and improved sound barrier.
• An Adaptive Technologist co-located in the Lab for improved student service.

AccessAbility Computer Lab and AccessAbility Test Centre Technology Purchases:

• A replacement computer, scanning computer and 20" iMAC for the computer lab.
• 5 new computers and monitors with full sized Apple Keyboards (silent keyboards) for Test Centre/Lab.
• A closed circuit television unit for use by students with disabilities in the Library.
• 32" TV/Monitor with wall mount for Test Centre for students with low vision.
• 2 QuickCam Orbit AF WebCams with face tracking.
• 2 Mobile Digital Scribe Pens.
• Scanner roller replacement kit for high speed scanner.
• Replacement UPS for server.
• New ScanSnap Scanner for Test Centre to provide for an increase in scanning needs.
• Zoomtext Network Edition Upgrade (Vista Compatible for Vista rollout which has been completed).
