Human Resources and Awareness Issues for Staff:

Awareness and education sessions about accommodating students with disabilities continued to be offered to employees in 2009. For new employees, sessions were included in Orientation to College Teaching for part‑time faculty, and in the New Employee Welcome orientation program. In addition, sessions have been offered about Universal Instructional Design, and Accommodating Students with Mental Health Issues and Disorders. The annual Wellness Fair featured a booth staffed by the Student Success Centre offering information on resources and accommodation for students with disabilities. Training continued for new employees and administrative staff in the Respectful College Community Policy and the Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Policy. While these policies are not specific to the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, they do reinforce the provisions of the Ontario Human Rights Code and respect and fairness for everyone.
