Physical Facilities, continued:
Accessibility Improvements Planned - September 2009 to August 2010:
The following facility accessibility improvements are planned for the next year.
- Career Services and Cooperative Education will be co-located in a facility renovated to CSA-B651-04 standards.
- Renovations to Lecture Theatre D1060 will improve seating, acoustics, lighting and way-finding.
- Improved vestibule door controls will be installed at various entrances.
- Cane detectable guards will be installed under stairs D1 and D4 to address headroom clearance issues.
- A rest area will be created in Student Success Services for students with medical/chronic pain issues.
- Door closers on individual accessible washrooms will continue to be replaced with the new closers designed to current accessibility standards.
- Wall side handrails and wheelchair spaces will be provided in D Building lecture theatres.
- The College continues to expand the wireless internet access areas with the goal of achieving during the next year 70% coverage including exterior spaces.
- Lighting upgrades will be made to A, G Building Corridors and E Building.
- All new facilities and future facility upgrades will be designed to the CSA-B651-04 Accessible Design for the Built Environment and incorporate City of London FAD standards and the principles of Universal Design wherever practicable.
