COMM-3027 -  Professional Communication-Music Industr
This course prepares students to work in the music industry by helping them to develop an appreciation of the language of music. Students will read, analyze, discuss and write about a variety of texts, such as song lyrics, music reviews, and articles concerning popular music. Topics for discussion may include the history, musicology, poetics, and genres of popular music, as well as the socio-economics of the music industry. In addition, students will work as part of teams to present seminars on the topics discussed, and individually conduct an interview with a music industry insider.

DIGL-1020 -  Audio Post Production 1-Sound Design
An intermediate digital audio production and theory course that utilizes advanced audio software for use in post production . Diverse sound production is covered through the use of digital audio, MIDI, virtual instruments, control surfaces and Quicktime video. Creative and interesting hands on applications include sound production, sound design, multimedia production, music creation and editing, and audio post production.

DIGL-5008 -  Audio Post Prod 2-Sound for Picture
A continuation of DIGL 1020. A hands on and theoretical digital audio production course that further utilizes digidesign Pro Tools, Apple Logic Pro and Propellerheads Reason, Native Instruments Kontact 2, Final Cut Pro and Quicktime. The 4 main areas of sound for picture are covered: dialog, sound effects, music and foley. Applications include audio production, video production, Internet delivery, broadcast, audio and video postproduction, sound design and multimedia. Term project(s) will be assigned.

RCRD-1001 -  Recording Engineering Lab 1
This course is designed to provide the student with theoretical and practical knowledge of the modern recording studio. Upon completion of this course, each student will be able to properly use microphones, process them through the recording console, utilize various pieces of signal processing equipment and mix in a multi-channel analog / digital format.

This course is a continuation of RCRD-1001 and is designed to provide the student with theoretical and practical knowledge of the modern recording studio. Upon completion of this course, each student will be able to properly set up microphones, process them through the recording console, utilize various pieces of signal processing equipment, and record using digital media in a multi-channel format.

WRIT-1037 -  Reason & Writing 1-Contemporary Media
This course will introduce contemporary media students to essential principles of reading, writing, and reasoning at the postsecondary level. Students will identify, summarize, analyze, and evaluate multiple short readings and write persuasive response essays to develop their vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and critical thinking. This course will also introduce students to selected topics and concepts in contemporary media.
