Welcome to the Fall 2008 academic semester.
Unfortunately the wonderful things that are happening this week throughout the College have been overshadowed by incidents both on and off-campus. We know that the actions of some individuals do not represent our population of almost 12,000 students, but they do result in intense media coverage and reaction from the community. This is a very busy time for a number of areas (in addition to their regular school start-up responsibilities) and we are addressing many questions from students, parents and members of the community. We continue to work with our community partners on these issues. A number of strategies were identified during summer meetings and additional strategies have been implemented as the result of incidents.
In addition, we are continuing to promote the wonderful things happening at Fanshawe this week. For example, today a donation was made to one of our Technology programs by the London Home Builders' Association! Additionally, Fanshawe students are collecting money in the fight against cystic fibrosis through Shinerama! These are just two examples of the good news we continue to receive and share.
We know that students have received a lot of information this week and during orientation, but we are reissuing a number of key messages in a variety of ways.
Please see the attached e-mail to full-time students.
If staff members have any questions, please speak with your supervisor or contact the appropriate department. Staff may also be assisted through your Human Resources Consultant. As usual, we appreciate all media being referred to the Marketing and Communications Department.
Thank you.
