Ingrid Blekys is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, where she trained as an actor, having completed her BFA at UVic. She has appeared on stages throughout Canada and the U.S. including: The Stratford Shakespeare Festival, The Belfry, The Grand Theatre and the Court Theatre in Chicago among others. Selected favorite roles have been: Hedda Gabler, Lady Utterword, Lear and Daisy Buchanan. When not teaching, Ingrid continues to hone her craft through various acting.

Ingrid received her MFA in performance from York University. She specializes in Viewpoint training as well as acting techniques including: Growtowski Plastiques, Meisner, Method and LeCoq. She continues her training in Viewpoints and Suzuki with members of the SITI company.

Ms. Blekys has taught mask, acting fundamentals and script analysis at the Unversity of Victoria, Windsor University, York University and Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. She taught directing at The University of Chicago.

She is a recipient of the Denise Pelletier/Gutherie Award, the Dorothy Somerset Theatre Award and The Nalini Graduate Award.
