Digital Book Index - a searchable index of 73,000+ electronic books on the web. The texts of many of the books may be downloaded free of charge. Search or browse the listings by author, title, subject, and publisher.

FreeMedicalJournals.com - "dedicated to the promotion of free access to medical journals over the Internet."
Google Scholar (beta) "Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research." CAVEAT: results include some links that take you to the publisher's web page, and then ask for a fee to provide the item. Make sure you fully exploit our databases first. You may be able to get the same item for free.
