- Digital Book Index - a searchable index of 73,000+ electronic books on the web. The texts of many of the books may be downloaded free of charge. Search or browse the listings by author, title, subject, and publisher.
- Directory of Open Access Journals - "free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals"
- e-journals.org - links to the world's full text electronic journals, by subject or title, with searchable index
- Electronic Education Journals - compiled by the American Educational Research Assn. Special Interest Group
- Find Articles - over 300 full text magazines and journals, with searchable index
- FreeMedicalJournals.com - "dedicated to the promotion of free access to medical journals over the Internet."
- Google Scholar (beta) "Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research."
CAVEAT: results include some links that take you to the publisher's web page, and then ask for a fee to provide the item. Make sure you fully exploit our databases first. You may be able to get the same item for free.
- JURN - articles from the Directory of Open Access Journals and the Intute: Arts & Humanities website, 13 fine arts magazines and full-text proceedings from conference proceedings.
- LivRe: Portal to Free Access Journals - Directory of more than 2,500 free access electronic journals. Journals are listed by subject and cover a broad range of the physical sciences, biological sciences, and the humanities.
- National Academies - From the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council; links to free full-text of thousands of e-books, as well as journals, news articles and other publications.
- National Academies Press - 2500 online full text books on science, environment and public policy
- NRC Press Journals - scientific full text journals from the National Research Council Canada
- The Online Books Page - An index of 20,000+ English language on-line books that are freely readable on the Internet. Search the listings by author or title; browse by author, title, and subject. Also includes links to online book collections, directories, and repositories and has exhibits of banned books online and prize winners online.
- Open J-Gate - "Provides seamless access to millions of journal articles available online. Open J-Gate is also a database of journal literature, indexed from 3000+ open access journals, with links to full text at Publisher sites."

- Theses Canada Portal - Through this website you can access free of charge 46,000 full text electronic Canadian theses and dissertations covering 1998-2002. You can also search over 220,000 Canadian theses held by the Library and Archives Canada.
