Testing again

As part of our plan to develop new and innovative ways to strengthen our Association, the Board is changing the way our committees are structured. Committee work is where things really happen. Board meetings are for strategic discussions and decisions, but when it comes to implementing new ideas, committees do the heavy lifting.

We currently have three committees: Marketing, Programs and Events, which meet every other month. Each committee is comprised of board members — although we’re always looking for alumni to join in and participate.

Elk Pate? I'm willing to bet you've never tried that before. Sounds good doesn't it? It was delicious!

The Board had its annual holiday dinner with Dr. Howard Rundle, President of Fanshawe College and his lovely wife Lynda. This event is one of the few times that we stop working and gather socially. It’s an opportunity for Board members to get to know one another and build stronger relationships with each other, Alumni staff and Dr. Rundle.

The Premier’s Awards for Outstanding College Graduates were held on November 28, 2011 in Toronto.

What an incredible event! Close to 800 people from colleges across Ontario gathered to celebrate the amazing things that college graduates accomplish. There were almost 30 people from Fanshawe College including staff, volunteers, alumni and nominees. Our alumni board was represented by:

On November 17, Fanshawe College and the Alumni Association honoured six outstanding graduates at the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner.

I brought greetings and congratulations on behalf of the Board and was extremely pleased with the turn-out and the atmosphere of the event. So many of our partners, supporters and college community were in attendance to celebrate these outstanding individuals.
