This year's theme, "An Evening in Bedrock," brought the Flintstones to life, complete with Fred and Barney's dream menu of Bam Bam Bison Burgers, Bacon Wrapped Free Range Pterodactyl Breasts, Red Wine Braised Brontosaurus Ribs, Prehistoric Ice Age Blood Orange Sorbet, and other unique culinary delicacies.

"We have taken quite a few exotic journeys with our gala over the years, but this was definitely a first," said Fanshawe College President Howard Rundle. "As always, the decorations, atmosphere, and food were first class. I want to thank our students and staff for providing such a whimsical and enjoyable evening."

The Fanshawe College Gala is an annual event that brings community partners to the College and raises money to support student learning. Every year, the event takes visitors on a whirlwind virtual vacation to explore the food and culture of a different location. Recent galas have celebrated New Orleans, countries in Asia, Tuscany, and even Canada, with food and service provided by Fanshawe students.

This year, approximately 230 students were involved in various aspects of the event, from decorating and set up to food preparation, service, coat check, dishwashing, and sound. Those students represented many different programs, including Audio Post-Production, Concierge Services - Guest Relations Specialist, Culinary Management, Culinary Skills - Chef Training, Food and Nutrition Management, Golf and Recreational Club Management, Hospitality Management - Hotel, Hospitality Management - Food and Beverage, and Tourism and Travel.

The event also included a silent auction featuring items donated by community partners, including Fanshawe gear, art, restaurant experiences, golf packages, and more.

About 240 guests took the trip to Bedrock, raising more than $20,000 to support Fanshawe student programs.

"The gala is always a lot of fun," President Rundle said. "It's great to welcome so many friends of Fanshawe to the College, and very gratifying to know that they support our students and programs. Every year, our guests contribute to student success at the College. We appreciate those contributions very much."
