Mike Hanwell Retires . . . Again

April 5, 2010

[photo of Mike Hanwell] It is with mixed feelings that I announce that Mike Hanwell will be "retiring" again as of April 2, 2010. Mike agreed to come back to the College to help the College through the transition of a new Senior VP Academic into Fanshawe College and support the Centre for Community Services (CE) during this transition period. Mike has been a real proponent of the Centre for Community Services (CE) and helped develop the plan for the merger between the Centre for Community Services and the Regional Campuses.

Chris Fliesser will temporarily provide the day to day oversight of the Centre for Community Services (CE) and the Regional Campuses until the new Dean of the combined the Centre for Community Services (CE) and Regional Campuses is selected. Hopefully this position will be filled by mid-May.

I hope you will all join with me in thanking Mike Hanwell for coming out of retirement to provide leadership to the Centre for Community Services during the last 15 months. It has been my pleasure to work with Mike during this time. He is truly committed to Fanshawe College and providing our students with a quality education and new opportunities. I have learned a lot from him and I want to wish Mike all the best as he "retires" once again.
