New Half Million Dollar Endowment at Fanshawe
October 3, 2008
Participants of the M.A.P. Program (My Action Plan for Education) will be able to access this bursary fund when applying for post-secondary education. The Horizons Campaign and the M.A.P. Program assists young Club members in grade four through post-secondary to achieve their academic aspirations and meet their career goals.
"This bursary will mean opportunities for young people to grow, to achieve, and to reach for their dreams. It will provide a training ground for tomorrow's leaders, and I believe it will inspire them to provide opportunities for others," said Dr. Howard Rundle, President of Fanshawe College
(in photo at left). "I would like to personally thank Don Donner for his exceptional leadership and the Boys' & Girls' Club of London for their generosity," Rundle continued. "Over the years, your organization has demonstrated that good things happen when we work with dedication, vision, and compassion. 'My Action Plan to Education' is further proof of your commitment in action. Thank you for making Fanshawe a part of this very worthwhile initiative."
The new bursary will qualify for matching funds through the provincial government's Ontario Trust for Student Support program. More information about the government's contribution will be released in the new year.
"Fanshawe College benefits immensely from relationships with community partners like the Boys' & Girls' Club of London," said Bob Siskind, President of the Fanshawe College Foundation. "These partnerships create exciting learning opportunities and provide important resources for Fanshawe students. This announcement is another fine example of the London community recognizing the value that Fanshawe brings to southwestern Ontario."
