Rogers TV Announces Fanshawe Grad/Prof Bob Smith as Station Manager

Rogers TV, Cable 13 has announced that Bob Smith has assumed the role of Station Manager for Rogers TV, Cable 13 in London, Elgin County, Oxford County and Strathroy-Caradoc, effective Monday, November 29, 2010.

Smith is well-known in London as a former anchor and news director. Currently, he hosts two programs, Inside London and newsmakers on Rogers TV. A part-time professor in the Broadcast Journalism program at Fanshawe College, he has also studied law for journalists at The University of Western Ontario.

"His vast experience, awareness of local issues and leaders in the community will help grow Rogers TV operations in this market," says Greg Grimes, Rogers TV Director of Operations for Southwestern Ontario.

"After more than 30 years covering the stories of London, I've been energized by the chance to create hyper-local programming here at Rogers TV," says Smith. "I'm genuinely excited to lead our talented professional staff and volunteers into the future of community television."

Smith grew up in a broadcast environment. His father, Harold Smith, was a nationally recognized broadcaster for nearly 30 years. A graduate of Fanshawe College's Broadcast Journalism Program, Bob Smith has received three RTNDA awards. In addition to being master of ceremonies for numerous community events, he is a former board member of Hardy Geddes House and has volunteered on the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario Telethon.
