Take Our Kids to Work Day

November 16, 2009

More than 40 young members of the Fanshawe family spent some time on-campus with their parents on November 4, 2009, courtesy of Take Our Kids to Work Day. Once again, Fanshawe welcomed Grade 9 students from all over London and area whose parents or friends work at the College.

Highlights of the day included presentations by Human Resources staff about Fanshawe College as an employer, hands-on workshops in our Graphic Design and Broadcasting - Radio facilities, as well as campus tours and job shadowing experiences. Our guests - and their responsible adults - had a lot of fun spending time together.

Take Our Kids to Work Day is a national career exploration initiative of The Learning Partnership, and is now in its 15th year. The program supports career development by helping students connect school, the world of work and their own futures.

"Events like this provide an ideal opportunity to showcase the College's commitment to the young people, the workforce of the future," said Linda Ballantyne, Director of Human Resources at Fanshawe. "We appreciate the value of initiatives like Take Our Kids to Work Day, and would like to thank all of the parents who brought their kids to work this year."

If you have children who will be in Grade 9 next year, please mark your calendar for Wednesday, November 3, and encourage them to join you for Take Our Kids to Work Day 2010!
