Integrating immigrants into the
workforce -
Fanshawe College announced as a lead College in
new initiative
A new initiative focused on easing the entry of new immigrants into Ontario’s labour market
was formally announced last week.
(Read complete media release here.)
The initial phase of the "Optimizing the Role of Ontario’s Colleges to
Integrate Immigrants into Ontario’s Workforce" project will be led by The
Colleges of Ontario Network for Education and Training (CON*NECT),
Centennial, Fanshawe and George Brown Toronto City colleges. These three
colleges will provide input into the project’s design and implementation.
The project will also consult with key stakeholders such as employers,
occupational regulatory bodies, all levels of government, other educational
institutions, community agencies, and leaders in the immigrant community
including The Maytree Foundation.
By participating as a lead college in this initiative, Fanshawe College
will be reviewing many areas, processes and systems within the college. As
you hear more about the project in the upcoming months, I encourage you to
view this project as an integral part of our activities to increase student
and staff satisfaction as well as enhance the quality of our services to our
diverse and growing student population.
We are very fortunate to have Rod Cameron as a member of the Steering
Committee for this project.
If you have any questions please contact Rod Cameron, Dean, Motive Power
Technology and Apprenticeship Training at ext. 4196.
