LONDON ANTI-BULLYING COALITION (LABC)
Battling Bullies features London family

Studio 2, a TVO program, takes a look at the impact of bullying in schools and features the experiences from five London and area families.

LABC hosted an interactive forum, Moving from Words to Action, on March 29 at Fanshawe College. The forum gave the community an opportunity to meet the LABC Board of Directors, receive information about the World Bullying Conference held in Ottawa this month, view the documentary Battling Bullies and ask local lawyer Andrew Camman about the legal rights of victims and parents when their child is being bullied.

The Studio 2 crew was in London for the initial meeting of the LABC, attended by more than 120 people in January. The crew taped footage and interviewed community members at the meeting.

Jane Jankovic, the series producer, says the documentary, Battling Bullies:

  • reveals the devastating consequences of bullying on students and their families;
  • explores the influence of homophobia and the role of the Internet in bullying;
  • examines the behaviour of bullies with Dr. Debra Pepler, a psychologist at York University and the Hospital for Sick Children; and
  • visits an anti-bullying program within the Bluewater School Board in Kent County.
