Scientist, Science Fiction Writer, Peter Watts

The Letters and Arts Society is proud to announce the last guest in our Reading Series this term, scientist and science fiction writer, Peter Watts.

Peter Watts has won several awards, both literary and academic, for his work as a marine biologist and filmmaker and as a science fiction writer. In 2007, he was a finalist for the Hugo Award for Best Novel for his book Blindsight, which also received third place recognition for the John W. Campbell Award for best SF novel. The Globe and Mail has named him "one of the best science fiction writers alive." Watts also writes short stories published in various anthologies and SF and fantasy magazines like On Spec and Tesseracts. He is perhaps best known for his novels devoted to the Rifters universe set beyond 2050. For further insight into this world, visit www.rifters.com.

We welcome Peter Watts to Fanshawe College on Thursday, March 12, 2009, in Room D1060 at 2:00 p.m. A book sale and signing will follow the reading. All are welcome!
