Interior Design
Got an eye for detail, beauty and style?
Unleash your creativity with Fanshawe's Interior Design program. Courses on sketching, drafting and illustrating are just the beginning! You'll spend lots of time in design studio classes, where you'll practice the principles of design - through analyzing, space planning, three-dimensional development and model-building, as well as experimentation with colour, volumes of space, ergonomics, building materials, finishes, millworking and furniture. You'll also develop critical manual and computer aided drafting (AutoCAD) skills, which interior designers use to create presentations for clients and drawings used in construction.
Plus, you'll get hands-on industry experience with three paid co-op work terms! The skills you learn can be used to make your mark create exciting spaces in houses, businesses, restaurants, hotels, banks, theatres and other commercial and institutional buildings. As a Fanshawe student, you can join the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) and go on to become a full professional member after graduation. When you graduate, you'll be qualified to work with interior design firms, architects, facility planners, furniture manufacturers and distributors. Or you might follow your entrepreneurial instincts and start your own business!
Interior Design is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma.
