Make a real difference! In Fanshawe's Developmental Services Worker program, you'll learn to provide support for people with a range of disabilities including intellectual disabilities and autism.
Developmental Services Workers (DSW) are specialists in working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Courses focus on disabilities, mental health, interpersonal skills, counseling, health, pharmacology, teaching and intervention strategies.
The DSW program has three field placements in community agencies.
Graduates are employed as support workers, advocates, and educational assistants by agencies providing accommodation, leisure and employment support as well as by boards of education.
The DSW program is offered full-time and part-time during the day.
Plus, you may be eligible to transfer credits for further education at universities such as Ryerson, Windsor, Calgary and Griffith University in Queensland, Australia.
