Get your hands dirty - and watch your career grow!

The horticultural industry is growing! And Fanshawe's Horticulture Technician program gives you the skills that will help your career blossom. You'll learn how to build and maintain landscapes, gardens and indoor spaces. And you'll study arboriculture, landscape materials, field construction, equipment maintenance, landscape design, plant identification, plant production, and even business management. You'll even participate in national events such as Skills Canada, Canada Blooms and Landscape Congress.

There's a strong focus on hands-on learning, with two paid co-op work terms, an on-campus greenhouse exclusively for Horticultural students, and a 100-acre 'living lab' that is the Fanshawe campus! You'll spend up to 80% of your time getting your hands dirty, outside of the classroom! When you graduate, you'll have job opportunities with design-build firms, nurseries and greenhouses, golf courses, garden centres, landscapers as well as parks, botanical gardens and governments. And you'll be ready to write certification exams in chainsaw use, the nationally recognized Certified Horticulture Technician (CHT) designation, and the provincial pesticide license exam.
