Program Description

Business Administration - Accounting is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program (laptop required). The program curriculum covers advanced topics in accounting with a focus on management functions and includes courses in auditing, financial management and controllership, cost and managerial accounting, and strategic policy and planning. The program provides a number of credits that can be transferred to a professional accounting designation (e.g., CA, CGA, or CMA) and used toward a university degree. Many employment opportunities are available for graduates in industry, public accounting, and government where they will work in a variety of roles, including accounting, finance, and tax.

Applicant Selection Criteria

Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available spaces in the program, the Applicant Selection Criteria will be:
  1. Preference for Permanent Residents of Ontario.
  2. Receipt of Application by February 1st.
  3. Achievement in the Admission Requirements.

Other Information

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS: 
    Students intending to enroll in Business Administration - Accounting must apply to the Business - Accounting program, Program Code BAC2. 
  • Upon successful completion of the Business - Accounting program (see below for more information), students must complete an "Application for Program Transfer" form available from the Office of the Registrar, Room E1012.
  • To be considered for admission to Business Administration - Accounting, graduates of  the Business - Accounting program should have obtained a 'B' in the following courses:  FINA-3007 Taxation I, FINA-3020 Taxation II, MATH-1045 Statistics, ACCT-3023 OR ACCT-3036 Intermediate Accounting I, ACCT-3022 Cost Accounting I, ACCT-3024 OR ACCT-3037 Intermediate Accounting II.
  • The Business Administration - Accounting Ontario College Advanced Diploma offers a potential of 14 C.G.A. credits.
  • Students entering the first level of the Business - Accounting program in January are expected to proceed into level two of the program in the summer term. Students entering the first level of the program in March or May will proceed to level two of the program in September. The third year of the Business Administration - Accounting program has a September intake only.  
  • **The Business Administration - Accounting program and the second year of the Business - Accounting program are laptop programs.
  • Terms are normally 15 weeks unless otherwise stated under Campus Codes and Intakes and at www.fanshawec.ca/academicdates.
