Program Description

CONSTRUCTION OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS: The program prepares students for a career in the residential construction industry. Courses are designed to provide the technical knowledge required to perform the construction, estimating, and scheduling associated with the building of bungalows, 2-storey houses, duplexes and townhouses. A large part of the program is devoted to the acquisition of "hands on" skills pertaining to this field.

Applicant Selection Criteria

Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available spaces in the program, the Applicant Selection Criteria will be:

1. Preference for Permanent Residents of Ontario.
2. Receipt of Application by February 1st.
3. Achievement in the Admission Requirements.

Note:

• *Students admitted to the Fanshawe College Pre-Technology and Academic and Career Entrance Technology stream programs are guaranteed admission the following year to a Technology career program provided that they successfully complete their Pre-Technology Ontario College Certificate or Academic and Career Entrance Certificate and fulfill any other specified conditions.  Normally these students are admitted to their first choice program.

Advanced Standing

• Credit for any course in the program will be given to students who can demonstrate that they have the required skills to meet the objectives of the course.

Other Information

• IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS:  Students wishing to enter the first year of the program should apply to the Construction Carpentry Techniques program, Program Code CCQ3.
• Students wishing to enter the Construction Engineering Technician - Supervisor program will be registered in Year 1 in the Construction Carpentry Techniques program. Students who successfully complete the requirements for an Ontario College Certificate from the Construction Carpentry Techniques program and wish to continue in the second year of the Construction Engineering Technician - Supervisor program to complete the requirements for an Ontario College Diploma must complete an "Application for Program Transfer" form available from the Office of the Registrar, Room E1012.
