Computer Systems Technology

IT jobs are in demand!

If you love solving technical problems, and want to develop advanced IT skills, check out Fanshawe's Computer Systems Technology program.

You'll discover how to design, install, troubleshoot and maintain microcomputer systems and networking equipment. You'll also learn how to install, configure and administer operating systems from Microsoft and UNIX, and study advanced topics in network management, communication protocols, security, web support, database servers and mail servers.

And you will have the opportunity to develop your communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written) to work with all levels of computer users in the business world.

Plus, Fanshawe partnership with Cisco Systems - the world's leading networking company - is your guarantee that you'll be learning about current, industry-leading technology.

And when you graduate, you'll have the knowledge and skills to test for certifications such as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), if you choose to do so.

You may also choose to apply the knowledge gained to prepare and test for certifications in CompTIA's A+, Network+ and Security +, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

This is a mandatory co-op program to help you gain excellent hands-on experience in preparation for a great career! Co-op placements are not guaranteed and will depend on availability of jobs and student eligibility.

For those interested in information security, the Computer Systems Technology program will prepare you for entry into the Information Security Management Graduate Certificate program.

Laptop required. Laptops are used in and outside the classroom to simulate the increasingly mobile nature of the business world.
