Fashion Design
Attention fashion-istas and future diva-makers!
Fanshawe's Fashion Design program is for you! This program will give you the hands-on experience and theory you need for a career in the fashion industry. You'll learn everything that's involved in making complete garments, from design and developing patterns to sewing and even marketing your creations! Study textile technology and use the same software and technology as the pros. Plus - the fashions you create will be featured in live fashion events and shows, and we'll get you hands-on experience in the real world of fashion, with three paid co-op work terms!
You'll also have plenty of opportunities to meet professionals in the fashion world, giving you even more exposure that could lead to future employment, and students have the opportunity to travel to Paris and New York to study the world's fashion hubs and latest trends! When you graduate, you'll be ready for work as a designer, technical designer, pattern maker, CAD (computer aided design) technologist or in textile research, just to name a few! If you wish to continue your studies, you may be eligible to transfer to the School of Art and Design - Fashion Design to complete a One-Year Top Up Degree at the University of Huddersfield in the UK! Or transfer to the Bachelor of Professional Arts - Communication Studies degree program at Athabasca University.
Fashion Design is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma co-op program.
