Program Description

The Visual Effects and Editing for Contemporary Media program is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate program designed to prepare creative and disciplined students for a career in the Post Production industry. The program focuses on professional techniques, terminology and software used for video and audio editing, motion graphics, 3D animation, compositing and Visual FX. Students will improve their Post Production knowledge and skills through individual and group assignments, practical instruction, independent learning, tutorials and research. The program includes an opportunity for client services, internship within the post industry across Canada, as well as self-directed portfolio projects.

Applicant Selection Criteria

Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available spaces in the program, the Applicant Selection Criteria will be:
  1. Preference for Permanent Residents of Ontario.
  2. Receipt of Application by February 1st.
  3. Achievement in the Admission Requirements. 
  4. Preference will be given to graduates of the Fanshawe College Broadcasting - Television program with most recent graduates having priority.
Note:
  • Students applying for the Visual Effects and Editing for Contemporary Media program with a two year Broadcasting - Television Ontario College Diploma should have obtained a 'B' average in all TVSN courses in the second year of the program at Fanshawe College, or a 'B' average in the television courses in second year from another institution or a 'B' average in the second year of the Multi Media Design and Production program or Interactive Media Design and Production program or the Graphic Design program at Fanshawe College. Applicants with less than a 'B' average will be considered only on the recommendation of the Academic Manager.
