Bridge to Employment in Human Resources

Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate
Start date: May 2012

The Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate provides students with functional knowledge in core areas of human resources: recruitment and selection, training and development, human resources planning, occupational health and safety, organizational behaviour, finance and accounting. Graduates are able to apply communication, information technology, teamwork, and organizational development strategies to administer the human resources activities of an organization. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to complete Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) credits. (Refer to the HRPA website for more information: www.hrpa.ca.)

Through occupation specific language training, employment preparation and placement in this program, students have the opportunity to be employed in a broad range of private, public, and not-for-profit sectors of business and industry including manufacturers, retailers, banks and other financial institutions, medical facilities, government offices, human resources consulting firms, and other large and small businesses.

Costs:
This program is funded by the Government of Ontario and Government of Canada.

Admission Requirements:

General Requirements

  • Be an internationally educated professional in business
  • Be a Convention Refugee, Protected Person, Landed Immigrant or Canadian Citizen and a resident of Ontario at the time of application
  • Be eligible to work in Canada
  • Have obtained an assessment of educational credentials through a professional body or an approved assessment agency in Ontario (e.g., World Education Services).
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency through testing (CLB level 7 is required in all skill areas)

Program Requirements

  • Post-secondary credential (e.g., college diploma or university degree)
  • Two years prior work experience in an HR field
