1. Where do I buy into the Campus Food Purchase Plan?
The Optional Flex Plan can be purchased through Fanshawe's Campus Bookstore. You can purchase a plan anytime. As a convenience, during summer registration it can also be purchased when you pay for your tuition.
Residence students please note - A mandatory Residence Meal Plan of $1200.00 is part of your residence costs. Separate rules apply. See details under Meal Plan - Residence Students.

2. How much do I have to spend on the Flex plan?
There is an initial minimum purchase of only $50.00. We recommend that you make an initial purchase of $400. The meal plan lasts as long as you are a student at Fanshawe. Balances roll over from one year to the next. See #5, below.

3. Can I add additional money to my meal plan?
Yes, increments of $50 can be added to your meal plan any time at the Bookstore. As the semester draws to a close, smaller amounts may be purchased.

4. How do I use it?
An account is set up for you on a secure database for the initial purchase value. To access your account, your student card must be activated after you receive it, either in the Campus Bookstore or during orientation activities in J-Gymnasium. You are then ready to purchase food items at participating food outlets on campus. Cashiers may need to know in advance you are using your card.

5. What is the refund policy?
Apply for a refund in the Bookstore, F1002. Refunds take about 4 weeks to process and are issued by cheque. Administration fees of $50.00 apply. Please note – refunds are not automatic if you withdraw. You must request a refund in the Campus Bookstore, Room F1002, or call 519-452-4260.

6. Does my optional meal plan expire?
No. You can keep the plan going as long as you are a student. Balances roll over from one academic year to the next, but cannot be refunded. Plans that are dormant for more than a year may be suspended.

7. What happens if my student card is lost or stolen?
You should report it to the Bookstore (F1002) immediately and your account will be suspended so no further activity can take place. It secures your funds until you find or replace your card. A lost student card should also be reported to the Registrar's Office (E1012) - replacement fees apply. Once you have your card back, a visit to the Bookstore will bring your account online again.

8. What if my card stops working?
Take it to the Bookstore and staff will troubleshoot for you. Remember, your meal card is your student card. Take care of it! Itshouldn't hang around your neck with other cards. Protect it from magnets, heat and damage. A replacement student card is very expensive.

9. What if I move out of Residence but I'm still at school?
You qualify for a refund if you wish. See refund details. You may also transfer into the Optional Flex Plan at no charge. This allows you to transfer unused balances into the next academic year. See details under  Optional MealPlan.
