Please be aware that a number of institutions have reported that individuals have been contacting people with listings on their off-campus housing registries and offering to pay the entire year's rent with a cheque or money order.
We would ask that you be cautious with this as in some cases the money order or cheque is fraudulent. Typically what happens is that the individual sends several months worth of rent and almost immediately ask for all but one or two month's rent (deposit) to be returned. They do this in the hope that your bank will not recognize the forgery until the normal clearing process has happened. This would result in you being out the money that you have returned to them.
Landlords:
The Fanshawe College Off-Campus Housing Office would like to thank you for listing your rental accommodations with us. If you submit your accommodation listing online you can also choose to pay the activation fee by VISA or MasterCard over the telephone. Call us at 519-452-4138. Students will not be able to view your listing until the fee has been paid.
- For an individual list the fee will be $25.00.
- If you have more than one unit available each additional unit will be $10.00
- If you wish to renew you will be required to fill out a new form and pay the listing fee. You may email Colleen Chartrand, offcampushousing@fanshawec.ca, and let her know if there are any changes and then either mail in, or drop in, and pay your fee. Visa or MasterCard is accepted over the telephone by calling 519-452-4138.
- Students may list a 'Sublet' or 'Roommate Wanted' for the fee of $10.00. Please have your student number available when paying the listing fee.
Our posting fees due dates are May 1 and November 1.
Note: If you choose not to use our online form for listing, only original College Off-Campus Housing Forms will be accepted.
We would appreciate receiving your listings at your earliest convenience. Your chances of renting are greater if you list with us before July 1 as students are notified of their acceptance to Fanshawe starting May 15 whether they have been accepted. The major influx of new students looking for accommodations in the fall starts any time after the first of May.
We appreciate your support in housing students however we reserve the right to remove a landlord's listing(s) from our system for inappropriate behaviour.
