Internal Funding Opportunities
Fanshawe College Research Innovation Fund (RIF)
RIF
is a seed funding program designed to build researcher capacity at
Fanshawe to conduct applied research. RIF is administered by the Centre
for Applied Research, Innovation & University Partnerships (ARIUP).
RIF
provides small, short-term grants for eligible projects, especially
projects that may lead to funding applications to external agencies. In
addition to involving employees, RIF also encourages grant holders to
engage students in their projects and bring research findings back to
the classroom via curriculum, workshops and other classroom activities.
Innovation not only helps keep employees current in their fields, it can
enrich and enhance the learning experiences of students and give them
an edge in the job market.
The
RIF program aligns with Fanshawe College's Strategic Research and
Academic plans and reflects the College's Strategic Direction #3 to
"engage in applied research and scholarly activity… through innovative
research projects" and to:
- Integrate research and education within the College and throughout the community;
- Foster innovation through interdisciplinary and collaborative research with other institutions, businesses and government;
- Build capacity for research and scholarly activity.
Prospective
applicants are strongly encouraged to consult with ARIUP prior to
beginning work on RIF applications in order to determine if their
project ideas align with the program mandate.
As
of April 2010, RIF has adopted a new application process and revised
guidelines to expedite the handling of funding requests and has
developed a set of standardized project reporting forms. The new
documents can be downloaded below.
