Greg Hessian, the Fanshawe College Ombuds, is a designated neutral and independent dispute resolution professional who provides impartial and confidential assistance to students.

The responsibility of the Office of the Ombuds is to receive, investigate, and seek to resolve any difficulty or dispute regarding any aspect of student interaction with the College, Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) or area campus student councils with the aim of resolving the situation and achieving fairness for all parties.

The Office of the Ombuds provides general information about College and FSU resources, policies, practices and procedures to office visitors. In order to achieve fairness, the Office of the Ombuds highlights student, college and FSU rights and responsibilities.

With a view of remedying the situation of individuals, the Office of the Ombuds may make recommendations to improve policies, practices or procedures, which would have the effect of making the College or FSU fairer in their operations.

The role of the Office of the Ombuds is also to assist students in preparing for the appeal processes with the understanding that the guidance is to encourage students to follow processes and provide relevant information in a timely and effective manner.  The Office of the Ombuds does not advocate on behalf of students, the College or the Fanshawe Student Union.
