Keynote Speaker
Wesley D. From, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., Vice President, Engineering
Mr. From joined Trojan Technologies in 2001 as the Mechanical Engineering Manager, and has subsequently taken on overall responsibility for Development and Engineering of products and technology. Mr. From has expanded Trojan's engineering footprint from a single location to development offices around the globe.
Before joining Trojan, Mr. From was engaged in technology development for medical ultrasound systems. Prior to this, Mr. From worked for the Ontario Rehabilitation Technology Consortium in developing technologies for children with physical disabilities.
Mr. From is licensed as a Professional Engineer, and has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Systems Design Engineering (Waterloo) and a Master of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Toronto) in biomedical robotics.
Presentation Submission Categories, Award Criteria, Due Dates and Prizes
Project descriptions submitted by students from any faculty in Fanshawe College on or before March 9, 2012, will be considered for inclusion in the first Annual Student Research and Innovation Day on April 4, 2012.
The project categories are:

- Arts/Humanities
- Media and Design
- Business
- Health Sciences/Human Services
- Science/Technology
All projects submitted on or before March 9th, will be assessed for possible inclusion in the Student Research and Innovation Day. Students will be notified by March 13th as to whether or not their project was chosen for inclusion.
Evaluation of the presentations for the purposes of determining an award category is optional. Students will be asked to indicate whether or not they would like their presentation to be included in the evaluation process.
The criteria on which the projects will be evaluated are:
- Format,
- Clarity of concept,
- Logic of visual presentation,
- Presenters’ ability to answer questions about their work.
Prizes in the range of First ($1,000), Second ($500), Third ($300) and Participation ($100) will be awarded per entry in each category; regardless of whether these are team or individual presentations. The awards will be presented between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. on April 4th, the day of the presentations.
