Cheryl Hickey set her sights on a career in the media industry while volunteering at a local cable station in her hometown of Owen Sound. Fascinated with the prospect of talking to interesting people for a living, Cheryl immersed herself in Fanshawe's Broadcast Journalism program quickly earning a reputation as one of the hardest working students in the program's history.
Within three years of graduation, after brief stops in Owen Sound and Barrie, Cheryl made the move to Toronto where she worked at Global TV as a videographer and reporter covering a range of beats from traffic – in the station's 'eye in the sky' news chopper – to courts and crime and finally entertainment.
In 2005, she joined Entertainment Tonight Canada. As host of the country's pre-eminent entertainment news program, Cheryl greets over 500,000 viewers each night as she relays in-depth celebrity profiles, breaking news coverage and behind-the-scenes exclusives. It's a job that has seen her travel the world reporting from such entertainment hot spots as the red carpet at the Academy Awards to the world's most famous film festivals. A proud mother of two kids, Jaxson and Nyla, Cheryl also finds time to give back working closely with Sick Kids Toronto, Plan Canada and Operation Smile.
