Fanshawe College was selected because it offered the courses I was looking to get into. What I originally went into Fanshawe for, I ended up leaving in a different career path. While I believe everything happens for a reason, the programs I originally entered into, helped to pave the way towards learning who I was and what I wanted from a career.
My favourite memory from Fanshawe College was when a group of my friends and I went downtown London and all got tattoos. It was my first tattoo and as a mature student (they were all youngins ) I ended up being the only one brave enough to get it done. It was a memory I will never forget.
Since graduating from the Multimedia Design & Production Program at Fanshawe College, I've obtained several years of experience working for different sectors within the web industry. I've achieved many successes from winning design contests, published photographer for Tourism BC, published author in Computer Arts Magazine, became a regular fixture for FITC in Toronto as Stage Manager, and more currently a judge for the Canadian Online Publishing Awards 2 years running. In 2014, I relocated to British Columbia where I obtained a role with an Advertising and Marketing Agency where my skills were really put to the test, and learning about a whole new sector of marketing taking my skills to the next level. If I can provide any kind of advice to those who are graduating or near graduation, it would be this... Never let anyone tell you that you can't do something. If you want it bad enough, never give up. Many people tried to discourage me from going after my dream. Many have said "that industry is too competitive, you'll never make it." My response was... "watch me". Don't ever let anyone tell you what you know in your heart to be true.
