A story of dedication and motivation
I'm a single mom and was laid off from a job of 8 years. I've always wanted to get into a trade but never knew where to start. I decided to go to college and actually started my career in my 30s. It was not easy being an older student with a child at home but I did great and finished a 2 year diploma in 1 year, and was also on the Dean's Honour Roll.
I am currently an apprentice for Industrial Electrician and I know my school helped me land this job which I am really enjoying.
It was not easy being an older student but it was well worth it. I still have many hours to put in for my apprenticeship but I know it will be worth it in the long run. My daughter motivates me to be the best I can be and I always want her to know if you work hard and go after what you want, nothing is impossible.
