Dean of the Faculty of Technology
Vertha is Dean of the Faculty of Technology and has occupied her position for the last five years. Prior to joining Fanshawe, Vertha spent 26 years at Algonquin College in Ottawa where she was a professor, a program coordinator and an academic chair for two schools.
Vertha has a degree in English Literature from Carleton University, a Bachelor of Education and an MBA from University of Ottawa, a certificate in higher education leadership from Harvard University and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in higher education leadership at Western University here in London. The focus of her research is the relationship between trust, gender and organizational success in executive teams. She has also received the NISOD Award for leadership and excellence in teaching in a post-secondary education setting.
During her time in her current role at Fanshawe, enrolment in Faculty of Technology has almost doubled and she has worked hard with her team to advance the awareness of young women to technology and trades-related careers and to engage with community and college stakeholders on the creation of new programs, improved learning facilities and initiatives that benefit our students and the communities in which our graduates live and work. Vertha values collaboration and has a deep respect and appreciation for the contribution that people make to supporting education and our students.
