There is an early childhood education job waiting for you in Bruce County.

Fanshawe College’s part-time, accelerated Early Childhood Education program, offered locally in Port Elgin this fall, will give you the skills and hands-on experience to secure an in-demand career shaping and nurturing young minds.

The part-time program, delivered at Fanshawe’s Huron/Bruce Regional Site (NII Building, 620 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin, ON), begins on September 5, 2023.

The Early Childhood Education Diploma Program

The program consists of two evenings per week (one in-person and one virtual), as well as two Saturdays (in-person) each month. It is easy to keep working while you study. Students with a related diploma, degree, or work experience can apply to fast-track their course completion. Students can also apply to be exempt from course placement requirements if they are currently working in a licensed child care program or have experience that meets the program’s placement and learning goals.

Scholarships and bursaries are available!

Residents of Bruce County can apply to have half of their tuition cost paid. Students can also apply for additional scholarships and bursaries. For more information on how to access financial supports, please visit www.brucecounty.on.ca/BeAnECE.

“Bruce County is pleased to partner with Fanshawe College on this local, innovative approach to address the need for more Registered Early Childhood Educators,” added Warden Chris Peabody. “By supporting ECE programs and ECE professionals, we can strengthen our workforce to meet the early learning and child care needs of children and families across Bruce County.”

“As an institution committed to unlocking the potential of our students and the communities we serve, Fanshawe is excited about what this partnership represents for Bruce County,” said Lisa Schwerzmann, associate dean of Fanshawe’s School of Access Studies and Regional Delivery.
