College Policy Optimization:
We are in the midst of a long-term project to optimize College policies and related documents. The objectives of this project include:
- Reducing the number of and content of such documents to the minimum necessary to carry out College business in an effective and efficient fashion;
- Revising the language, tone, format and accessibility of these document in ways that promote and support employee freedom to act in the achievement of policy objectives; and
- Making it easier to locate and access College policies and related documents.
Optimization of individual documents may involve simple conversion of existing content to a new format and tidying up the structure, terminology and language. In some cases though, the substance of the document is updated and may also involve combining several existing documents into one new document.
One result of this project is a reorganization of these documents from the existing 21 categories within two groups into nine new categories within four groups, as shown in the lists below. However, during the transition from existing to new, it is necessary to maintain both lists.
Until replaced or rescinded, existing policies remain in force and are accessed from the list below in the left hand column. When an existing policy is replaced or rescinded, it will no longer be accessible from the list. At the same time, where applicable, the new policy will become accessible from the list below in the right hand column.
