2014 MusiCounts Fred Sherratt Award.
Anna (Kata) Hellinger is Fanshawe College's 2014 MusiCounts Fred Sherratt Award winner. Hellinger graduated in June from Fanshawe's Music Industry Arts program.
According to program coordinator Steve Malison, "Kata shows excellent performance skills in all areas but she really shines in the areas of music business, artist management, music production and above all communication!"
Hellinger (right) was one of the lead producers in the annual Music Industry Arts concert 'Share the Land,' a tribute to legendary Canadian music producer Jack Richardson with donations going to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
This year, the successful concert was once again sold out. More than 110 students and professionals participated under the guidance of Kata and the lead team. "Kata is very much a 'people person'. She has uncanny listening skills and is empathetic," says Malison.
MusiCounts Fred Sherratt Award recipients receive a $2,500 award, a certificate, a two-day trip to Toronto for the awards presentation, an educational day at CHUM FM and MuchMusic, along with a one-year membership to the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). Named after broadcasting pioneer Fred Sherratt, this annual scholarship is awarded to 12 post-secondary graduates of Canadian music programs.
