(London, Ontario) – With her first block in a 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 12-25, 25-21) loss versus the Sheridan Bruins on Saturday afternoon, Fanshawe's Stephanie Bignell became the new all-time women's volleyball blocks leader in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). Bignell finished the match with a game high seven blocks and now holds the OCAA record with 224 career blocks.
Bignell passed Mandi Doris of Durham College, who held the previous record with 217 blocks in her five years between 2005 and 2010. Bignell, who is currently in her fifth year, started the 2014-15 season in fourth place overall, with 188 blocks between 2010-2014.
Fanshawe's next game will take place on the road on Wednesday, January 28th at 6pm, as they head to Ancaster to take on the Redeemer Royals (6-6).
