(London, Ontario) – It's going to be a busy summer for Fanshawe Falcons Head Coach Patrick Johnston. After being selected to coach both 17u Team Canada and 18u Team Ontario boys squads, the next few months are filled with professional development opportunities.

The summer will kickstart in June with the OVA's High-Performance Centre (HPC) at Brock University where two 18u Team Ontario squads will be selected. Johnston has been named as an Assistant Coach of the "A" team alongside Head Coach Ian Eibbett (Director of Camp Madawaska). Ontario's top 24 athletes aged 18 and under will then head to Edmonton for the National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC) where the provinces will battle for supremacy.

From there, Johnston will be a part of the selection committee for 17u Team Canada, who are responsible for selecting athletes from the NTCC in Edmonton. Team Canada will train in Edmonton with coaches from Trinity Western, Dalhousie, Grant MacEwan, Regina, and Saskatchewan.

"I'm honoured and beyond excited for summer to arrive. As an athlete, I went through both of these programs and it's a great feeling to be a part of it as a coach now. 17u Team Canada Head Coach Dan Ota was my Youth Team Canada coach back in 2004, so it will be incredible working with him. With Team Ontario, I have an opportunity to assist Ian Eibbett as well, one of the most respected coaches in the OVA. I'm eager to surround myself with as many great minds as I can and soak up as much information as possible".

Needless to say, with Johnston working first-hand with Canada's finest young volleyball players, and some of Canada's brightest coaches, he will bring home an abundance of professional development and coaching experience for the upcoming Falcons season.
