The Men's Baseball team went 1-1 this weekend, splitting games with Humber on Friday night. The Falcons took game one, winning in dramatic fashion 5-4, and falling in the second game 10-3. 

In game one, down two in their last at bat, Fanshawe loaded the bases with one out. Humber walked in the third run still leaving the bases loaded. The Falcons then got a base hit to left field by Tyson Patrick and team captain Sean Refflinghaus hustled around from second to beat the throw to the plate, giving the Falcons the walk-off victory. Centrefielder Chris McQueen went 2 for 2 in the game, with 2 walks and a stolen base. The winning pitcher for Fanshawe was Tyler Rymal (1-0).

In the second game of the doubleheader the Falcons fell 10-3.

The scheduled doubleheader against Durham last Saturday was postponed due to heavy rains. The games will be rescheduled at a later date.

Fanshawe will now have a ten game stretch on the road, starting with exhibition games in St.
Catherines against Brock University on Wednesday, September 23 at 5:30pm and 7:30pm

The Fanshawe Softball team went 2-1 this past week. The Falcons upset the defending OCAA champion St. Clair Saints this past Tuesday, winning both games of the doubleheader with scores of 4-2 and 14-4.

In game one, Fanshawe's Alanna Gilmour pitched a great game, with 2 runs on 7 hits and 2 strikeouts. Both Kady Hawkins and Rachel Dotzert went 2 for 3 at the plate. 

The Falcons offense went off in game two, with 9 different players getting at least one hit. Jacey Lochert and Reannah Hogarth-McLean both went 2 for 3, with 2 runs and 3 RBIs.

The team then travelled to Humber College on Saturday and fell to the Hawks 3-2. The second game of the doubleheader was postponed because of weather.

Fanshawe will head to Conestoga on Wednesday, September 23 to take on the Condors, the game times will be at 5pm and 7pm.

The Fanshawe Men's Soccer team is now 2-0-1 on the season, after a very busy week. The Falcons started their season with two games on the road. On Monday, Fanshawe tied the Conestoga Condors 0-0 and on Thursday, beat the Redeemer Royals 4-0. Goal scorers for the match were Mike Marcoccia with three and David Harriman-Duke with one.

At home on Saturday, the Falcons beat Mohawk by a score of 3-0.The game's goal scorers were Marcoccia, Alberto Barquin and Jacob Atkinson. Goalkeeper Luke Siroen had his third straight shutout and the Falcons now lead the OCAA West Division in goals against.

Fanshawe looks to continue their winning streak Saturday, September 26 when they take on the Conestoga Condors at 2pm. This will also be Fanshawe Athletics' second Falcons Fest of the year, which means there will be free hot dogs and drinks available for fans! The Men's team will also be hosting their 1st Alumni game at 4pm with festivities to follow the match.

The Fanshawe Women's Soccer team is in first place after an outstanding 3-0 start on the season. Their first win came on Monday, on the road against Conestoga 4-0, with Jade Kovacevic scoring three and Kayli McGuffin adding one. On Thursday, the Falcons travelled to Redeemer, where they won 5-0. Goal scorers for the game were Riley Vanderydt with one and Kovacevic with four.

The Falcons were back at home Saturday afternoon and defeated Mohawk by a score of 10-1, setting the team record for most goals scored in a single game.

The Falcons were led by star striker Kovacevic, who had five goals against Mohawk, which tied the Fanshawe record for individual goals in a game. She is currently leading the OCAA in scoring with 12 goals in three games. She is two goals away from breaking the Fanshawe College record for goals in a season.

Five other Falcons scored against the Mountaineers, including Marisa Oliveira, Danielle Austin, Emily Mitchell, Aylien Wattell, and Breanna Sundberg.

The Fanshawe Women's Soccer team will take the field again at Falcons Fest on Saturday, September 26 versus Conestoga College.  Game time will be 12pm.

The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams participated in the Fanshawe Invitational this weekend at the Fanshawe Conservation Area.

In the men's race, veteran Seth Marcaccio finished first individually, with a time of 27:12.  Ryan Foott was not far behind, finishing in third place with a time of 28:01. The Fanshawe Men's team came in first place overall.

On the women's side, Morgan Hendriks was Fanshawe's top finisher (14) with a time of 21:37.

The teams' next race will be on Saturday, September 26, when they will travel to Sault Ste. Marie.



The Fanshawe Golf team hosted the annual Fanshawe Golf Invitational last weekend at Forest City National Golf and Country Club.  The Falcons finished in fifth place overall. Fanshawe's top individual score was Spencer Dunseith, who shot a 77. Next, the Golf team will travel to Niagara Falls on Monday, September 21 for a tournament at Hunter's Point Golf Course, home of the 2015 OCAA Golf Championships.
