MEN'S VOLLEYBALL:

 

The Fanshawe Men's Volleyball squad lost a tough match against Mohawk, the fifth ranked team in the nation, last Friday in Hamilton. The Falcons lost in three sets by very close scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-22 to the undefeated Mountaineers. Andre Foreman and David AuCoin led the Falcons with 10 and 9 points respectively. On Friday, November 27, Fanshawe will battle the Redeemer Royals on the road at 8pm.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL:

 

The Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team improved their record to 7-2 after a road win against Mohawk on Friday. The Falcons swept the Mountaineers in three straight sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-21). Carley Nugteren led Fanshawe with a game-high of 12 points. Kristen Bond also contributed 9 points for the Falcons. Fanshawe will next travel to Ancaster to play Redeemer on Friday, November 27 at 6pm.

MEN'S BASKETBALL:

 

The Fanshawe Men's Basketball team fell to the Niagara Knights by a score of 83-66 in Welland on Friday evening. Three Falcons recorded double figures, as Moses Orozco-Rayo scored 14 points, Rey Carnackie had 11 points and Anthony Baylis added 10 points. Oshane Daley had a team-high of 9 rebounds. Next up, on Wednesday, November 25, the Fanshawe Men's Basketball team will travel to play the St. Clair Saints at 8pm.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:

 

The Women's Basketball squad moved their record to 5-1 after playing against Niagara College on the road on Friday. The Falcons won by a score of 63-48. Fanshawe went down early in the first quarter, however got back in the game with strong defensive pressure in the second quarter. Going into the locker room, the Falcons were down 33-31. Fanshawe maintained their momentum in the second half, holding the Knights to only 15 points in the final 20 minutes. Natalie Warren led the Falcons in scoring, with 14 points. Anique Daley contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Ali Vlasman added 10 points and 4 assists. The Falcons will be away for their next game, as they will play St. Clair at 6pm on Wednesday, November 20 in Windsor.

BADMINTON:

 

Fanshawe hosted their annual Badminton Invitational last Friday through Sunday with some great results. Fanshawe's top finisher was Tilu Vaidya, who finished tied for third place in both Women's Singles and Women's Doubles. Mark McWhinney and Riley Hogan both made it to the quarter-final of the “A” flight in the Men's Singles and Women's Singles respectively. The teams of Thao Le and Valliappan Padmanabhan (Men's Doubles) as well as Jodi Grobbecher and Anushkumar Krishnamoorthy (Mixed Doubles) made it to the “A” quarter-final of their categories. The Badminton team will be in action again in the new year, when they travel to compete in the Centennial Tournament from January 15 to 17.

 

 

DID YOU KNOW?

…The 2015 Women's Curling National Championship winning team will be presented with their rings at half-time of the Men's Basketball game on Saturday, November 28.
