Last week, the Fanshawe Men's Volleyball team went 2-0, extending their win streak to an OCAA West Division leading seven games.  Fanshawe is ranked #1 in Ontario and #3 in Canada.


Last Thursday, the Falcons were on the road versus the #7 CCAA ranked Mohawk Mountaineers (11-2).  Fanshawe took care of business in three straight sets 25-21, 25-15 and 25-22 to avenge their only loss on the season.  James Jackson led the Falcons with 10 points (7 kills, 2 aces, 1 block) with setter Sebastian Lethbridge picking up eight of his own (5 kills, 3 aces).


On Saturday, Fanshawe hosted the Conestoga Condors (1-12).  The Falcons won again in three straight sets, defeating the Condors 25-13, 25-19 and 25-8.  Six different Falcons all scored at least five points in the match with Jackson leading the way with 14 including 10 kills and 4 aces. 


Next Thursday, January 26, the Falcons will host the Sheridan Bruins (7-6) at 8pm.

The Falcons Women's Volleyball team went undefeated last week, winning both matches in three straight sets.  The Falcons have now won 12 straight sets in OCAA league competition and are in fourth place in the OCAA West Division.


On Thursday, Fanshawe was on the road versus the Mohawk Mountaineers (7-6).  After dropping the match in November to Mohawk, the Falcons came out fired up and won 3-0 (25-21, 25-18,



25-22). Meghan Morelli had 16 points to lead the Falcons (15 kills, 1 block). On Saturday, the Falcons were at home versus the Conestoga Condors (1-11).  Fanshawe won 25-13, 28-26 and 25-15.  Morelli led the Falcons again with 16 points (15 kills, 1 ace) while Madeline Shantz had 23 assists, 1 kill and 1 huge game-saving block in the second set.


The Falcons host the Sheridan Bruins (6-7) this Thursday, January 26 at 6pm.

The Fanshawe Men's Basketball team lost their only game last week and remain in fourth place in the OCAA West Division.


On Saturday, the Falcons hosted the #8 CCAA ranked Humber Hawks.  After a fast-paced first quarter, the teams were tied at 13.  The Falcons briefly took the lead in the second but Humber found themselves up by one, 31-30, at the half.  DeAndre Austin led all players with 10 points. In the third, Humber used a 10-2 run at the end of the quarter to take a six point lead into the final quarter of play.  Chris Parker started the fourth with a big three pointer to put the momentum back in Fanshawe's favour. After closing the gap to one, Filip Pejic hit another three pointer from the corner to give the Falcons the lead.  Unfortunately for the home team, in the final two minutes, the Hawks went on a 13-2 run and won the game by a final score of 74-64. Austin led the Falcons with 16 points.


The Falcons are back in action next Friday, February 3 when they travel to Windsor, Ontario to take on the St. Clair Saints (4-6).

The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team lost a heartbreaker last Saturday to drop their record to 7-4 on the season.  The Falcons are in fourth in the OCAA West Division and ranked #5 in Ontario.


On Saturday, the Falcons hosted the #1 CCAA ranked Humber Hawks (11-0). Both teams came out in the first quarter with fantastic defense.  At the end of the first, the Falcons were down 11-7. Natalie Warren started the second with an elbow jumper for the Falcons to close the gap to just two. However, the Hawks extended their lead and were up by nine at the half after a 13-2 run. The defensive intensity continued to start the second half.  After being down by 12, the Falcons scored six straight points including layups by both Laura Vere and Anique Daley to cut the Hawks lead to six.  At the end of the third, the Hawks led 43-35.  In the fourth, with two minutes left in the game, Vere hit a three pointer and the Falcons were within one, 55-54.  After a Humber basket, Warren drove the lane with 45 seconds to go and made the basket, and once again Humber's lead was just one.  Humber scored again with 11 seconds left to lead by three.  The Falcons had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but came up just short as the Hawks won the game 59-56.


The Falcons are on the road this coming weekend, travelling to Sudbury, Ontario for a double header versus the Cambrian Golden Shield (1-11).  On Saturday, the game takes place at 6pm and on Sunday at 12pm.

The Fanshawe Badminton teams were at the St. Clair College Open this past weekend. In Men's singles, Anush Krishnamoorthy lost in a very close ‘B Final' (21-18, 18-21, 22-24) while the Women's Doubles team of Tilu Vaidya and Trina Ngu also fell just short in the ‘B Final', losing 21-15, 16-21, 18-21.  The Falcons are now looking ahead to February 3, when they travel to Conestoga for the OCAA West Regional Championships.




Last weekend, the Curling teams were on the road at the Humber College Bonspiel.  The Falcons Men's team went undefeated (5-0) on route to being named Tournament Champions.  The team was comprised of Charlie Richard, Tyler Twining, Brandon Twining, Eric Jones and Brady St. Lois.  Richard was named one of the Tournament All-Stars.  The Women's team finished the tournament with a record of 3-1-1, good for a tie for second place.  The team was made up of Sara Westman, Kaitlyn Poirier, Samantha Lees, Isabelle Allen and Hana Plantt.  Poirier was named to the All-Star team. The Curling teams will be participating in the Niagara Bonspiel this Thursday, January 26th to 28th in Welland, Ontario.
