The Falcons lost both games last week to the Humber Hawks (5-5) by scores of 11-9 and 5-3.  Fanshawe is in third place in the OCAA Baseball standings.


Last Saturday, the Falcons travelled to Connorvale Park to take on the Humber Hawks.  In the first game of the doubleheader, Fanshawe led 9-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning but the Hawks loaded the bases and hit a grand slam to come back and win the game 11-9.


In the second game, Fanshawe again led early, taking the 1-0 lead after the second inning.  After Humber took a 2-1 lead, the Falcons rallied in the fifth, scoring two runs and retaking the lead.  Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Hawks would score three unanswered runs and go on to win by a final score of 5-3.


Next up on Thursday, October 6, the Falcons travel to St. Clair to take on the Saints (8-0).  The games are at 6pm and 8pm.

The Fanshawe Women's Softball team went 2-2 last week, with two losses to Conestoga (10-8) and then a pair of victories over Durham (8-6).  The Falcons are in second place in the OCAA Softball standings.


On Friday night, the Falcons were on the road versus the Conestoga Condors.  Although both games were close, the Falcons lost by scores of 9-6 and 7-4. 


On Sunday, Fanshawe was back at home taking on the Durham Lords.  In the first game of the doubleheader, after falling behind 2-0, Fanshawe would score six unanswered runs including a two run homerun by Rachel Dotzert, to take a 6-2 lead.  The Lords would storm back but Fanshawe would hold on to win by a final score of 9-8.  Alanna Gilmour (6-1) would get the win after one and a third innings of relief. In game two, Fanshawe would be the first to score, jumping ahead 3-0 through four innings of play.  Durham scored their first run of the game in the top of the fifth but Fanshawe scored four in the bottom half, including a two run triple by Reannah Hogarth-McLean to put the Falcons ahead 7-1.  After pitching in relief to finish game one, Gilmour (6-1) would pitch the complete game three hitter and take the win in game two as well, as Fanshawe would win by a final score of 7-1.


The Falcons are heading to the CCSA National Championship starting Thursday, October 6 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The Fanshawe Men's Soccer team extended their winning streak to three games after defeating the Conestoga Condors (0-5-1) last Sunday by a final score of 3-0.  The Falcons are tied for first place in the OCAA West Division with a record of 5-1.


On Sunday, the Falcons were on the road versus the Conestoga Condors.  After a 0-0 tie at the half, Fanshawe was first to score on a goal by Thomas Sackor in the 60th minute.  That would end up being the game winning goal but the Falcons would score two other goals in the game, one by Brandon Mendes in the 75th minute and another by Jacob Atkinson in the 81st minute.  The Falcons would win the game by a final score of 3-0 and would lead in shots attempted 28-6.


The Falcons next game takes place back at home on Wednesday, October 5 at 5pm versus the St. Clair Saints (5-1).  The winner of the game will take sole possession of first place in the OCAA West Division.

The Falcons Women's Soccer team remained undefeated this season after winning 9-0 over the Conestoga Condors (1-5) last Sunday.  The Falcons are 6-0 and are ranked #2 in Ontario and #6 in Canada.  They lead the OCAA West Division in both goals for (32) and goal against (1).


On Sunday, the Falcons travelled to Conestoga to take on the Condors.  The Falcons took an early lead in the 5th minute, when Jade Kovacevic scored to put Fanshawe up 1-0.  Riley Vanderydt got in on the action, scoring in the 17th minute before Kovacevic scored her second of the game in the 40th minute, putting the Falcons up 3-0 at the half.  Fanshawe's dominance would continue in the second half scoring another six goals, including three from Alexandria Peat, another two from Kovacevic and one for Marisa Oliveira.  The Falcons would win by a final score of 9-0.


The Falcons will have their greatest test so far this season on Tuesday, October 4, when they host the #5 ranked team in Ontario, the St. Clair Saints (5-0-1).  The game starts at 5pm on the Fanshawe Soccer Field.

This past weekend, the Men's Volleyball team hosted their first exhibition tournament of the season.   After going undefeated in the round robin play (3-0), Fanshawe faced the St. Clair Saints in the semi-final.  The Falcons continued to roll, winning in three straight sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-20) to move on to the tournament final versus the Sheridan Bruins.  Fanshawe would again show their dominance, winning the championship final in three straight sets 25-22, 25-20 and 25-11.  Fanshawe's Jack Daley was named the Tournament MVP, with teammates Alec Bugler and Nate Van Camp both receiving Tournament All-Star awards.


The Falcons next action takes place at the Seneca College Exhibition Invitational Tournament on October 14 and 15.

The Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team took part in the Fanshawe Kickoff Tournament this past weekend.  The Falcons finished the round robin play 3-0 and faced the St. Clair Saints in the semi-final.  After winning the first 25-11, the Falcons dropped the next three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-22.  Fanshawe's Maddie Shantz won a Tournament All-Star award.


The Falcons continue their exhibition play Saturday, October 15 at the Niagara College Invitational Tournament.

The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team had their first exhibition play of the 2016-17 season this past weekend at the Durham College Big 8 Classic. The Falcons went undefeated in the tournament, defeating George Brown (93-61) and John Abbott (59-50) before winning 55-40 in the championship final over Champlain College – Lennoxville.  Fanshawe forward Natalie Warren was named the Tournament's MVP, while guard Laura Vere was named a Tournament All-Star.  The Falcons have now won the Big 8 Classic for the past three seasons.


The Falcons first regular season game of the year takes place Wednesday, October 26 on the road versus the Humber Hawks.

The Fanshawe Cross Country team competed at the Sault College Invitational this past Saturday.  The Fanshawe Men's team finished in first place as a team, with lead runner Seth Marcaccio finishing third overall.  The Women's team finished in second place, just six points behind the Humber Hawks, with Falcons lead runner Stacey Andrews finishing third.  Fanshawe will next race at Seneca College at the Sting's Invitational Tournament on October 15.




The Fanshawe Falcons Golf team competed at the Niagara College Invitational last week.  The tournament was cut short due to weather and darkness but through 12 holes, the Falcons were sitting in fourth place.  Fanshawe's Jake Johnson was tied for second overall at 47 when the tournament was completed.


The Falcons are currently at the OCAA Provincial Championships at National Pines Golf Club, hosted by Georgian College.  The three-day event takes place starting Monday, October 3.

Carlos Arteaja, shortstop for the Fanshawe Baseball team, was named last week's OCAA Men's Baseball Player of the Week.


Jade Kovacevic and Carlos Arteaja were named the Fanshawe Falcons Lululemon student athletes of the Month for September.


This season your reigning Men's Volleyball Provincial Champions are hosting the 2017 CCAA National Volleyball Championships March 9-11.
