(London, Ontario) – Nathan McFadden, Manager of Athletics at Fanshawe College, announced today that Mike Marcoccia has been selected as the new Head Coach to lead the Fanshawe Falcons Women's Outdoor and Indoor Soccer Programs while Ashley Vandervecht was selected as Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Cross Country Program.

Marcoccia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Fanshawe Women's Program, both as a coach and a player.  Marcoccia is the Women's Head Coach of FC London, a semi-professional soccer team based in London, as well as the Technical Director and Head Coach of the AG London Soccer Club.  He also has coached in the London City Soccer Club and at the high school level, winning a number of championships along the way.  As a player, Marcoccia has an impressive resume including being a professional soccer player in France, Italy, the USA and Canada.  He was the captain of both FC London and London City Soccer clubs. He has won multiple Provincial and National Championships as a member of the London Marconi Premier Division and is even a former Falcon, where he was named an OCAA League All-Star and the league's top goal scorer last season.

Vandervecht is an alumni of Fanshawe, graduating from the Police Foundations program with honours in 2008.  During her time at Fanshawe, she ran as a member of the Cross Country team for two seasons.  Since then, Vandervecht has continued to be part of the Falcons program, as an Associate Coach from 2008-2014 and then as the Assistant Coach for the past two years (2014-16).  In that time, the Cross Country program won an impressive 27 OCAA and 18 CCAA individual and team medals, including 9 Provincial and 6 National Championships.

“We are very excited about the additions of Mike and Ashley to our head coaching staff”, said McFadden. “They are both strong character people who have been a part of our successful programs as student-athletes and understand the expectations and demands that are necessary to be a national champion. Their passion for our program and our student-athletes is clearly evident and they will be terrific additions to our staff which led the OCAA in Coach of the Year honours last season.”
