(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Falcons Badminton team is ranked in the latest Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) top 15 for the first time this 2017/18 season.
The Falcons are ranked #13 in Canada after an impressive showing at the St. Clair College tournament last weekend. In Women's Singles competition, Falcons fifth-year student-athlete Riley Hogan (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) made it to the ‘A' flight semi-final. Fanshawe rookie Sahil Sahil (India) also got to the ‘A' flight semi-final of Men's Singles in his very first tournament. Falcons San Dang (London, ON) and Olivia Bellingham (Brantford, ON) took home the ‘C' flight Championship in Mixed Doubles, beating out fellow Falcons Hogan and Daryn Van Herk (Monkton, ON) 21-18, 16-21, 22-20. The Badminton team will be back in action on February 2-3, when they travel to University of Toronto-Mississauga for the OCAA West Regional.
Other OCAA teams that are represented in the CCAA rankings include Humber (1), George Brown (4), University of Toronto-Mississauga (7), and Georgian (10).
