Fanshawe is disappointed that the colleges and the faculty union have not been able to reach an agreement. Fanshawe does not know when the strike will end but remains committed to ensuring students can complete their academic year.
“We had hoped the outcome of this vote would be positive and we could look forward to welcoming our faculty and students back to the classrooms,” said Fanshawe President Peter Devlin. “I am encouraged today that the Premier is bringing the two sides together with a view to an immediate resolution to this strike. We will continue to focus on communicating and supporting students to ensure they can complete their academic year once the strike is over.”
As part of the semester completion plan, the College has now told students that it has extended the fall semester until Tuesday, January 16, 2018 or possibly Tuesday, January 23, depending on when the strike ends. Fall semester classes will run until Friday, December 22 and restart on Wednesday, January 3. This will give students enough time to finish the fall semester and complete exams and assignments. There will be no classes or exams held between Saturday, December 23, 2017 and Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
Fanshawe will continue to provide students with updates as they become available, as well as provide full details about the Student Reimbursement Fund, as announced last week by the Ontario Government.
