(London, Ontario) – Four members of the Fanshawe Falcons Women's Softball team were honoured tonight for their accomplishments this season as the OCAA handed out their 2016 league awards at the Women's Softball Championship Banquet in Kitchener.

Mackenzie KellyOCAA Women's Softball Rookie of the Year:  In her rookie campaign, Kelly (Oil Springs, ON), made an immediate impact on the team.  The right fielder and designated hitter hit .450 in 22 games for the Falcons and led the team in walks with seven.  She had 27 hits, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

 

Kady HawkinsOCAA League All-Star:  The star third baseman and captain hit leadoff for the Falcons again this season.  Hawkins (London, ON) led the team in a number of offensive categories including hits (40), runs (26), triples (5), stolen bases (9) and RBIs (23).  With a batting average of .465, she finished third in the entire OCAA.  She was also named a Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) National Championship All-Star. Hawkins is now the Fanshawe career leader in hits with 110, stolen bases with 24 and homeruns with 7.

 

Rachel DotzertOCAA League All-Star:  Dotzert (Stratford, ON) hit .455 for the Falcons this season, almost always out of the number two spot in the lineup. She had 35 hits with 24 runs scored and 15 RBIs.  She had a team high 12 extra base hits, including five triples, extending her Fanshawe career record to nine.  She was also named a Tournament All-Star at the CCSA National Championship this year.  Dotzert also holds the Fanshawe record for runs in a single game with five and total career runs scored with 66.

 

Jacey LochertOCAA League All-Star:  Lochert (Belwood, ON), the team's all-star shortstop, was one of the most versatile players on the team.   She played in a team-high 23 games and finished the season with 30 hits, 17 RBIs and 15 runs.  She also pitched in eight games, finishing with a record of 4-1 in 24 2/3 innings with an OCAA low ERA of just 0.85.
