(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Men's Volleyball team (2-0) opens the season ranked #3 in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) National Rankings. Last week, the Men's Volleyball team went 2-0, defeating the Niagara Knights (1-1) and the Sheridan Bruins (2-1), both by scores of 3-2.  The Falcons are in first place in the OCAA West Division, ranked #1 in Ontario, and look to continue where they left off last year, when they won the OCAA Provincial Championship.  Fanshawe is on the road this coming weekend versus the Cambrian Golden Shield (1-1) and the Boreal Viperes (0-2).  Other Men's Volleyball teams in the OCAA that are ranked include Mohawk (6), Durham (9) and Georgian (13).

The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (1-1) starts the season ranked #13 in the Nation.  After a tough 63-56 loss in the season opener to the #1 ranked Humber Hawks (1-0), the Falcons bounced back and defeated the Sheridan Bruins (0-4) by a score of 63-39.  Fanshawe is back at home this weekend for a doubleheader versus the Sault Cougars (0-2) Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 1pm. The only other Women's Basketball team in the OCAA that is ranked besides Fanshawe and Humber is Mohawk (8).

Both of the Fanshawe Cross Country teams were ranked nationally again this week, with the Men coming in at #2 and the Women at #15. At the OCAA Championships on the Men's side, lead runner Seth Marcaccio (Byron, ON) won the individual gold medal with a time of 26:55, more than 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher.  The Men's team won the Provincial Championship, their seventh title in the past eight seasons.  Fanshawe's Marcaccio and Ryan Foot (London, ON) were both named to the OCAA All-Ontario First Team while Jordan Kadlecik (Grand Bend, ON) and Justin Attfield (Aylmer, ON) made the Second Team. The Women's team finished in fifth place overall, with Stacey Andrews (Newmarket, ON) winning the bronze medal individually.  Andrews, as well as teammate Morgan Hendriks (Dorchester, ON) were both named to the Women's All-Ontario First Team.  Both teams will now prepare for the CCAA National Championships hosted by Sault College on Saturday, November 12th.
