Hair Stylist grad nominated for national award.
Fanshawe College proudly announces that one of its graduates has been nominated for a national award. Dustin Schumann, a 2014 graduate from the Hair Stylist program at the Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus is one of five Canadian finalists for 'Newcomer of the Year' from the Canadian Hairdresser Mirror Awards. These international awards showcase the creative talent within the Canadian beauty industry.
Taking the words of his professors to "never stop learning" to heart led Dustin to enter the 2015 Canadian Mirror Competition—resulting in the national nomination.
"Dustin exemplified what it meant to be a student of the industry. He was always open to learning and expanding his creativity," says Deborah Renaud, coordinator of the Hair Stylist program. "Dustin was able to take his skills from the program and continue learning and improving himself. This nomination is well-deserved."
Donna Derer, chair of the Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus says, "We are proud to witness the journey of one of our former students. Dustin's enthusiasm, drive and display of Fanshawe values will help him pursue a great career in the industry."
The results will be released at the 21st Canadian Hairdresser Mirror Awards gala on April 18, 2015, at the Toronto Convention Centre. The event will be hosted by Canadian Hairstyling Magazine.
