Fanshawe College is pleased to be joining a new program designed to ensure faster processing times for Canadian visas for students from the Philippines. The Study Direct Stream pilot is a partnership between Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan); Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC); and the Canadian Trade Commissioner responsible for Education.
Launched two weeks ago in Manila, the program streamlines the Canadian visa application process for qualified international students, provided they meet financial and English language requirements. Saurabh Malhotra, Fanshawe's manager of international recruitment & market development (South Asia and Africa), attended the event along with international education advisor Junhyun Park. Together, they presented information about Fanshawe College to government officials, education agents, students and parents.
"Fanshawe has established an exceptional reputation in similar program pilots across the world, including in India, China and Vietnam," says Wendy Curtis, executive director of Fanshawe International. "We are looking forward to the addition of the Philippines."
The Philippines is a priority emerging market in education under Canada's Global Markets Action Plan (GMAP). Fanshawe is expecting an increase in the number of students from the Philippines as a result of this project as well as the targeted marketing and recruitment approach of Fanshawe International.
